The days are longer, the nights are lighter and the flowers are in full bloom and now springtime has sprung, at The Art Shop Skipton, we’re looking ahead to this season's events. From flower shows to pop up painting there are some great reasons to visit Yorkshire, so let’s take a look at what else is on throughout our region this spring…

Visit Bradford Open 2019

Bradford Open is held at Cartwright Hall and runs until the 5th of May. Providing an opportunity for artists to showcase their work, the exhibition supports local talent. Work is also for sale including sculpture and crafts from those who live, work or study within the Bradford District so go check it out before the show closes - you may find yourself a unique piece!

View Michael Rothenstein’s Work at Dean Clough, Halifax

For those unfamiliar with Michael Rothenstein, he is arguably the most experimental British graphic artist of the 20th century and his exhibition ‘Exploding the Boundaries’ is currently featuring at The Crossley Gallery. Offering one last chance to view his show before it leaves Yorkshire to tour the UK, view 90 mixed media prints by the late artist at Dean Clough in Halifax.

Pop Along to The Harrogate Spring Flower Show

Nothing says spring like a deluge of daisies, daffodils, roses and tulips so if flowers are your thing be sure to check out the fabulous Harrogate Spring Flower Show. Across the last weekend in April, 25th to the 28th, see Britain's biggest exhibition of flower arranging and floristry. There’s also inspirational gardens to admire and paint - just remember to take your supplies.

Visit Yorkshire Sculpture International 2019

This upcoming show is a celebration of sculpture and runs from the 22nd of June to the 29th of September. Then across 100 days, 4 galleries and 2 cities, we’ll see a series of world-class exhibits. This unique show will no doubt build on the profile of Yorkshire as a creative hotspot and as well as YSP, venues include The Leeds Art Gallery, Henry Moore Institute and The Hepworth Wakefield.

Attend Pop Up Painting Events

Pop up painting is now a thing with this night themed around Banksy. The artist famed for his political art and whose identity remains unknown. Live demos actually give people the opportunity to try something new and exciting. So keep an eye out for any upcoming events this spring by The Art Shop Skipton.
