The Art Shop Skipton is proud to introduce the new Pebeo Drawing Gum Masking Marker. This handy little all-in-one tool has just been added to our shelves and we must admit we are impressed.
The Pebeo Drawing Gum Masking marker is a peelable masking fluid all contained in a useful pen, so no more messing about with bottles, paintbrushes or lining pens just shake, pop the lid off and mask any area to your heart’s desire. It’s neat, fuss free and convenient.
You use the fluid to mask any area of your artwork that you would like to leave blank, leave to dry, paint over with watercolour, inks or gouache, and then when that layer is dry, simply rub away the gum with your finger or an eraser to reveal the blank space beneath.
The pen has a good all round 0.7mm plastic nib which can be removed and easily cleaned with warm water to prevent the pen becoming clogged. It even comes with a replacement nib, just in case.
Simply draw using the pen, paint over with watercolour, ink or gouache and peel away, masking has never been so easy!
We tested the pen on watercolour paper (although it can also be applied on acetate or wood too) and used a wash of Brusho Inks on top. We not only found the application a breeze because of the pen format but the blueish colour of the gum really helped to see what we had been doodling, unlike traditional white masking fluid which can sometimes be tricky to see. When we rubbed away the drawing gum it left no marks and really got us thinking about the endless possibilities that could be so easily achieved using this product.
Pebeo Drawing Gum Masking Markers are available from our online store now and are a fantastic addition to any artist or crafter’s utility belt.
