'Camel' hair - usually made from or a blend of natural hairs, such as squirrel, pony or goat - is extra soft and has good water carrying properties and durability. It is much cheaper than kolinsky sable. Although lacking the spring and point of sable or of synthetic filament, this can work in its favour for soft blending and for creating unique, natural brush strokes.
