Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates can be used for easy stamping and monoprinting techniques.

The gel printing plates mimic gelatin, but are a durable, reusable printmaking tool.

Best used with acrylic paint; also suitable for water-based printing ink, fabric paint, gouache, tempera and more. Apply your paint directly to a clean Gelli plate, using a roller brayer for a fine layer and even coating. Then you can begin to create designs into the wet paint directly on the plate. Use found textures to create patterns or press items such as dried flowers or leaves into the surface to create a negative space. You can also use sgraffito techniques by removing lines and marks using a non-sharp tool, such as a pencil, colour shaper or spatula.

Lay your paper or fabric directly onto the paint while still wet and gently rub to ensure an even and firm coating. Pull the paper away to reveal your print!

After use, you can clean your plate with water or a hand sanitizer and wipe clean with a cloth or paper towl. Wiping your plate with baby oil should remove most pigment stains or marks.

Cover both sides of the plate with plain paper to protect the printing surface when you are storing your plate.

9 x 12 inch plate (22.86 x 30.48 cm).
